Friday 3rd, Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th November 2000

In November 2000, the Golden Retriever Club of Victoria hosted the Third National Championship Show.  Our conformation Judge was Mr Ray Strudwick from the UK and the venue was the Cranbourne Racecourse.

Our national weekend started with an afternoon seminar on Friday 3 November at KCC Park.

  • “What is a Golden Retriever” – a demonstration of clicker training by Lea Cogley
  • Semen collection - alternative breeding by Paul Hamilton
  • “Heart problems in the Golden Retriever” by Dr Russell Mitten

The seminar was followed by a Heart Clinic and then a wine and cheese party welcomed everyone to the National.

Saturday 4 November saw our official opening ceremony complete with a bagpipe band.  Judging of the bitch classes followed.  In the evening a carvery dinner was held at the Cranbourne Racecourse, followed by an auction and the presentation of our Annual Club awards.  We were entertained by a country and western band.

On Sunday 5 November the dog classes were judged and we held our restricted obedience trial including the National 2000 Golden Retriever Obedience Dog of the Year.  Our national show concluded with our national dinner at the Bear House restaurant in Cranbourne.
