Comments from the Judge on the Championship Show, Melbourne 26 / 10 / 2002. An old dream came true when I was invited to judge Golden Retrievers in Australia. I am very grateful to the Golden Retriever Club of Victoria, for giving me this chance to see your dogs and to meet some wonderful people of the Australian Golden Retriever Circle. I would like to thank everybody involved in making our stay so pleasant, the committee of the GRC, my ring stewards and most of all, the exhibitors that came from all over this big continent, to show their dogs under me. I felt most honoured. The entry of 215 was fantastic and I was impressed by the overall quality. In many classes, it was some very close decisions between the placings. Many times I wished I could have placed more dogs. In general, I found many dogs and bitches with excellent conformation. Well-angulated fronts and rear quarters with well let-down hocks. Hocks are so important when it comes to strong and effective hind movements. There was a rather big variation in heads and expressions. Temperament was excellent on all dogs and I was also very impressed with the way the dogs were presented. Class 1.
